are following breaking news out of downtown oakland. police are investigating a fatal shooting. christien kafton is live for us. >> reporter: let me tell you this is a large crime scene. it's spread out over five blocks here in downtown oakland. right now alameda county coroners office is on scene here just about to load the victim into a van to remove him from this scene. there was a very expensive sports car just about seven or eight minutes ago that expensive sports car was towed out of the area. we have video of what the scene looked like earlier. police say they responded to the scene around 3:00 this morning and found the dead man in the street with numerous shell casings around him. and there is another scene just about a block away with more shell casings there and a half block away again that very expensive sports car. it looked like ans aton martin vintage. that sports car is certainly part of this investigation. we saw investigators looking over it with flashlight and trying to get a little bit more information about that. as mike said a couple moments ago, this shooting happened when

on a house in the oakland hills. it happened around 3:30 this morning on oakwood drive, the tree estimated to be 75 foot tall crashed down on the corner of the roof. the downed tree also brought traffic on oakwood drive to a stop. firefighters say they do not know what caused that tree to fall. >>> an investigation is underway into a crash involving a scooter and a santa clara county sheriffs patrol car. the accident happened before 12:30 this morning in the area of west heading street and the alameda. investigators are trying to determine if one of the drivers may have run a red light. two people on the it scooter were taken to the hospital but their injuries are not believed to be serious. the deputy in the patrol car was not hurt. the vehicle sustained damage to the right front bumper. a couple of san francisco police cars will be out of action after an unusual crash. officers were investigating an argument on the 4000 block of mission street. police say pickup truck sideswiped a patrol car, sending it into a second police car. witnesses say officers had to scramble to avoid getting hit

and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around midnight that they had three suspects in custody in a high-speed chase that were involved in a san jose armed robbery and shooting. we've been in touch with police. they say the robbery unit is not expected to be until 8:00 this morning. as soon as we get confirmation on that, we'll be sure to pass it a -- it along to yo
windows at the oakland tribune offices. the newspaper reports a window pane was shattered and five banks were vandalized. >> new information about a deadly shooting at a richmond bart station. police gave out flyers to passengers last night. they are looking for anyone who saw a man shoot and kill another man. >> i ducked and sought guy fall. >> what did you do? >> my wife was waiting for me to pick me up and i went to her car and we left. it was -- crazy out here. >> reporter: bart police reveal the bullet also grazed a 26- year-old. he was treated at a hospital and released. detectives first thought there were two shooters but now they say they are looking for just one suspect. they believe there was an altercation before the shooting. >> sierra lamar disappeared a year ago today. police say they believe she was kidnapped walk together bus stop not far from her home. her purse, clothes and cell phone were found in fields, close to where she was last seen. hundreds of volunteers and several searches have been done. two months after she disappeared police arrested a 21-year-old for

. san francisco, oakland -- it is san francisco, i'm being told. but again, we have overcast skies. some of us dealing with patchy dense fog, once again. i'm starting out with a still shot of the radar and you can see rain in washington, oregon is drive. california, high and dry. temperatures will continue to warm under this ridge of high pressure. a little bit of moist flow at times. a weak, weak onshore breeze bringing back the clouds and patchy fog. the ridge of high pressure, the associated sinking area is helping to pin it to the ground. you can imagine it kind of pushing it down as it -- as it continues to strengthen. that's what we're seeing this morning. widespread, patchy, dense, novato and petaluma reporting visibility down to .25. san jose overcast skies but it doesn't look like it's right there at the ground level. so you should be okay. but just take it easy out there. notice it is widespread. half moon bay reported visibility three miles right now. as we progress to the morning hours, it will burn off by 8:00, 9:00. looking better. by 10:00, 11:00, it takes until it finally

. >> all right. our time is 7:16. back here at home a man from oakland found guilty of killing a man who come to the bay area to apply for a job at google plans to appeal that verdict. 26-year-old george hug ins faces life in prison. killed a 45-year-old engineer from virginia during a robbery in 2010. the victim was in oakland for a teeth cleaning appointment the day before a job interview at google. police say he stole $17 from the man and shot him three times. >>> later today a woman accused of kicking a small child is due back in court. this comes after last week's court arraignment was delayed when she started screaming in the courtroom. >> [ screaming ] >> 24-year-old sabrina bell is facing charges. she kicked the child to the ground for no apparent reason. >>> a bus driver in florida pleading not guilty to charges of aggravated child abuse for kicking a special needs child. yesterday in court prosecutors released this video. this was shot last october. showed an 8 year old girl trying to get off the bus when the driver says it's not her turn. in response the girl slaps and pushed

this morning a car fire nearly spread to the oakland raiders' team headquarters in alameda. firefighters arrived at the fire at harbor bay parkway just after 4:00 this morning. they found a car fully engulfed in flames in a parking lot in the back of the property which is behind the oakland airport. the building was not burned. firefighters are investigating whether this was arson. police will be looking also into whether the car was stolen or involved in some other crime. >>> this morning we're tracking the investigation into a deadly officer-involved shooting in unincorporated san jose. ktvu channel 2 reporter janine de la vega is live in san jose with what police are saying about gunfire that followed an overnight chase. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, tori. sheriff's deputies just cleared the scene on jerilyn drive. they've been here for 12 hours investigating. we were just told by a neighbor. they say this is where the suspect in a stolen car was shot, where you see all of this broken glass and just across the street, that's where they say that he crashed his car af
